GMWA FRESNO COMPONENT CHOIR

The GMWA Fresno Component Choir is a dynamic collective of vocalists and musicians based in California’s Central Valley, operating under the Northern California Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA). Since its inception in 1986, the Fresno Component—founded through the vision of Vernon Chappel—has been dedicated to preserving and advancing gospel music as a vital American art form. Under the leadership of Chapter Representative Sylvia Norman and Minister of Music Linda Coleman, the choir continues to thrive as a hub for musical excellence, education, and ministry. The ensemble has shared the stage with renowned artists including Jesse Dixon and Josh Groban, and has been featured in annual productions of Black Nativity as well as the citywide Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast. Through performances, community engagement, and artistic collaboration, the choir continues to uplift audiences across the region.
